But Didn’t We Have Fun? (Part 2)

Yesterday I wrote about my experience with a young dog called Rhianne at the Dogs’ Refuge Home where I volunteer. How I’d fallen in love with her quickly and lost her just as quickly when she got adopted by a family just a few days later.

Today’s post is an Epilogue to Rhianne’s story. After I left the Refuge on the day Rhianne got adopted, I caught the train back to Wellard station, where I’d parked my car earlier that morning. As I started the car, the new Coldplay CD started playing the song “Fun” from their newest album “A Head Full Of Dreams“. Now, I’d only bought that album on Sunday, and this was the first time I was playing that CD, and the first time I’d ever heard the song “Fun”.

The lyrics are reproduced here below. I found them through doing a Google search. I’m sharing them here with you today, as they brought poignant tears to my eyes when coupled with memories of my short time with Rhianne.

I know, soppy me.

Coldplay – Fun Lyrics

I know it’s over before she says
I know that falls that the waters face
I know it’s over, an ocean awaits
For a storm

The sun on snow, rivers in rain
Crystal ball can forsee a change
And I know it’s over, a parting of ways
And it’s done

But didn’t we have fun?
Don’t say it was all a waste
Didn’t we have fun?

From the top of the world, the top of the waves
You said forever, forever always
Could’ve been lost, would’ve been saved

Now we’re stopping the world, stopping the spin
Come on don’t give up and say we give in
Don’t say it’s over, don’t say we’re done
Oh, didn’t we have fun?

Oh, didn’t we have fun?

I know it’s over before she says
Now someone else has taken your place
I know it’s over, Icarus says to the sun

The salt sinks in, lightning strikes
When two forces, two forces collide
The fighting is over, fighting is done
Oh, didn’t we have fun?

Don’t say it was all a waste
Didn’t we have fun?

From the top of the world, the top of the waves
You said forever, forever always
We could’ve been lost, we would’ve been saved

Now we’re stopping the world, stop it in it’s tracks
Nothing’s too broken to find a way back
So before it’s over, before you run
Didn’t we have fun?

Cause you and me, we were always meant to, always meant to be
We were always meant to, always meant to
You and me, we were always meant to, always meant to be

Oh, didn’t we have fun?
Oh, didn’t we have fun?
But then, maybe we could again
