Leo is a Refuge pup that was adopted and later returned. His owners could not commit themselves to his ongoing puppy training, as Leo was at the stage where he was nippy and the family were worried he would bite their young daughter.
Yes, Leo is a bouncy and exuberant puppy at just 6 months of age. The kennel environment is not doing him any good, as he’s missing out on socialisation and other doggy skills. I’ve started spending 10-15 minutes a day with Leo, to try and teach him to be calmer, and to test out positive reinforcement training techniques.
Leo has now been placed with a foster carer, so I’ve not been able to continue my calming sessions with him. I hope his foster carer takes the time to teach Leo socialisation skills, exposes him to as many different stimuli as possible, takes him out to meet new people, experience new things. He’s going to be an awesome dog, I know it!
Anyway, here are some of my favourite photos of Leo, taken using my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Enjoy!
