I have on occasion searched the Internet for a breed that my Scruffy dog most resembles, to no avail. The closest I ever came to that was once, when out walking with Scruffy in the woods in Ireland, we crossed paths with a young couple with a very long-legged version of Scruffy at the end of their leash. They too did a double-take when they saw Scruffy. Both dogs looked very similar, from their scruffiness down to their beards and colouring. Except that Scruffy’s legs were about half the length of the other dog’s. The young couple told us that their dog was a lurcher. Which didn’t really give an indication of its breed, apart from the fact there were some greyhound genes in there.
Here are some shots of Scruffy. If you know what breed or mixture of breeds he could be, please let me know! I know you can do DNA testing these days, but that’s an expensive option and I can’t afford it. I love Scruffy’s scruffiness, especially his beard and tufty ears. He has very unusual markings as well – hidden within his grey/black splodges are tickings which are either black or brown.
