Who says the Lagenlook (layered look) style has to be frumpy, old-fashioned or shapeless? The more I research and Pin Lagenlook garments, the more subtle nuances I find. Recently, I started noticing Lagenlook with a distinctly edgy, modern, even futuristic look. I’ve also started noticing Lagenlook pieces in the retail stores at the mall. It’s not big yet, but it’s surely catching on.
Jackets with handerchief hems, asymmetric tunics, uneven hemlines, strange fishtails on the backs (or fronts) of skirts, layered frills, etc – these are starting to show up on high street fashion garments. Oh, and a lot of back or dark clothing. Some are quite distinctly Haute Couture or influenced by Japanese designers.
Some of these remind me of the costumes used in Post-Apocalyptic movies such as The Hunger Games, The Divergent Series, or even Sci-Fi films like Star Wars and Star Trek.
