#18: What piece of art are you grateful for?
Three years ago, when my world fell apart after discovering my husband’s online infidelity (with not just one but several women), I discovered the teachings of Eckhart Tolle. I’d come across his book “A New Earth” quite by accident at my local thrift store.
It was not an easy read, but I persevered, and after getting through the first third of the book, the penny dropped and everything fell neatly into place. Furthermore, it kept me sane 😄.
Anyway, the main philosophy taught by Eckhart Tolle is one of living in the Present, or as he prefers to call it, The Now. Nothing ever happens in the past or future, only in the present. Deep, or what.
So one day I decided to create a piece of art using some of my Gelli prints and 3D letters. The word I chose was NOW, and I’m grateful for that exercise then as I am now. That philosophy is what’s seen me through these rough past few years, and what keeps me going.
It’s stuck to the wall in my bedroom, as a constant reminder of how Life should be cherished and appreciated right now, not as a reminder of the past or motivation towards the future.
I have some more letters I can play with, and loads more Gelli prints on art paper…hmmm I just might go make some more art like this! HOME would be a good word. Or LOVE.
