#20: Who in your life are you grateful for?
Well, I’ve practically been a single parent to my son Jack all his life, so our lives are inextricably entwined. He is my best friend and my confidante. He’s never known his real father, and he’s seen my extremely poor taste in men as life partners, and he knows what kind of man NOT to be when he grows up.
I’m so very grateful to have Jack in my life. He’s my reason to live, he’s my hope for the future, and everything I aim for, has him in mind. Yes, of course it would be lovely to be part of a harmonious family unit, and for Jack to have a great father to look up to and emulate. But sadly, it never turned out that way, so I must be both Mum and Dad to him. It’s a rare privilege indeed, and I’m very proud of the fine young man he’s turning out to be.
