I Can & I Will

I’m tired of people telling me what I can or cannot do. How to live, how Not to live. What do they know? They’re not me. How can they presume to know what’s best for me?

Actually, I got tired of this a while back. But, having to live under the same roof as my ex, (for now, anyway), every now and then he likes to remind me of my limitations. Every now and then the ugly beast rears its head.

“You can’t do this”, “You don’t have the money to do that, so forget it”, “It’s not possible”, “I know it’s not going to work, so don’t even think about it”. Etc etc etc.

I know it’s just his own insecurities talking. He has to try and put me down in order to make himself feel better. He needs to put the blame on someone, and I happen to be the closest. He needs a scapegoat to pin all his personal problems on, wagging his finger at me like I’m the source of all his problems.

But, you know what? You can’t tell me what I can or cannot do. None of you can. Everything is possible, if I put my mind to it. If I set my intention, and follow through on the clues and signals that The Universe throws in my path, there is no way I cannot succeed in achieving my goal.

This year, my goals are thus:

1. Increase my Finances abundantly, enough for me to buy my ex out of our home. He thinks we’re flogging a dead horse, that we’re throwing good money after bad. But I don’t agree with that kind of defeatist attitude or mentality. If we can keep up with the mortgage payments, until such a time as the property market improves and we can sell the house for a profit, then surely the bank will be happy enough to overlook the arrears and tack it to the back of the mortgage? The ex just wants to run away to live in the Philippines with his (married) girlfriend, that’s why he isn’t too bothered if we lose the house here.

2. Get a job or jobs that will give me financial security, from multiple streams of income, if that’s how it has to be. With that I’ll be able to clear my debts and get a home loan at a low rate, to buy our house (as above). But more impprtantly, I would like to start up my own Crafts business online – maybe on Spotify, or on Facebook or even through a Wix website. I know this is possible, and I’m working on it. I’m also researching the pros and cons of becoming a pet groomer…should I do a certified course in pet grooming? Is it something I want to do? Will I enjoy it? Will I be able to get a job doing it?

3. Buy/win/be gifted a Mazda CX-3 car in Soul Red Crystal. I am in love with that colour, every time I see it on the roads now I get a little frisson of delight up my spine. I can envision myself sitting in the car, driving it, oh yes, please, and Thank You, Universe!

Pinterest Curated Images for International Women’s Day

Yesterday, I posted about Carrie Green’s phenomenal business book “She Means Business” (pure gold, get it now, run don’t walk, what are you waiting for?), which arrived on International Women’s Day. Then I got carried away waxing lyrical about the book and about Female Entrepreneurs in general, and that’s why this post is a day late.

But wait…my half of the world may be in a different day, but it’s still International Women’s Day in America. So yay, happy dance, I’m still on time!

I found these quotes on strong women and woman’s solidarity on Pinterest:

In The Pink

Thought I’d be a girly girl today and go all pink.

Just because I can.

This is going to be the year I turn my life around. This year I will reclaim my life, my way. No one will ever dictate to me again how to live, what to do, who to love. I will practise Positivity, Affirmations, Visualization, Gratitude and the Law of Attraction.

Let’s start with my Divorce, which will be heard in Court in 2 weeks’ time. A very good place to start, for all endings are new beginnings. I am Woman, hear me roar.😊

You Are Enough

I’m a big fan of Daniell Koepke. I haven’t been able to glean much about her from the Internet, apart from the fact that she says the most inspiring, positive and life-affirming things. And I just love how she expresses those thoughts.

I’ve been collecting everything I see on Pinterest that relates to Daniell. Aside from her public blog writings, Daniell appears to be a very private person. She’s the founder of the Internal Acceptance Movement (I.A.M), an online space that “aims to foster self-acceptance, empowerment, mental wellness and healing”. Here is her blog, where you can read more about her Life Philosophy and what she hopes to achieve. It’s hard to believe that Daniell Koepke is a student of psychology, and so young, when she seems so much wiser than her years.

I for one am very thankful that there are people like Daniell Koepke in this world. They truly are luminaries.

Today’s Inspirational Thought is by Daniell, and it speaks to me personally. On the one hand, there are people I’ve known my entire life, who have chosen to cast me into their “not good enough” and “not worth bothering about” piles. On the other hand, there are people who I’ve only known a short while, friends old and new, who appreciate and accept me for who I am.

On the one hand, I’ve had to battle my way, psychologically, with some people; just trying to get my point across and get the help I need. Everything is hunky dory until your circumstances change, then suddenly you find doors slammed in your face, and you’re told that what you’re asking for is “too much”.

On the other hand, some people just seem to get me right from the start. They understand what I’m going through, and they are here for me no matter what. The wheat magically sorts itself out from the chaff.

So, to the people in my life who have always shown me kindness and love and compassion, and never made their friendship or connection dependant on my serving some purpose that satisfies their own personal needs, I say “Thank You”, from the bottom of my heart.

I don’t have many friends, but the ones that I still have, despite all my trials and tribulations, are my True Friends. These are my Real Family. These are My People. Thank You ❤.

Just Some Quotes on Appreciation

Last week I learnt to appreciate my work laptop, that heavy beast that clings to my back as I commute from home to work in the City and back again every Monday to Friday. Some days it gave me a backache, and I’d sometimes wish I could “accidentally” leave it at home. But I have never done that. When it got “broken” and had to go away for a few days to be looked at by our IT guys, boy was it hard NOT having it to hand, to do my work with.

Anyhow, the laptop is back and apart from the fact that I still have no proper work email, everything is back to the way it should be. The IT guys promise me they’d get my work emails sorted out asap (some kind of authentication problem, it seems).

Meanwhile, in writing yesterday’s post, I’d researched the topic of Appreciation. Pinterest, as usual, came up with hundreds of examples of quotes. I’ve curated my favourites, the ones most relevant to Life in general. And I’m sharing them here with you. Please be mindful that copyright belongs to, and remains with, the original artist/photographer.

Motivational Quotes

A reminder that nothing was ever accomplished by giving up on the idea. I have a Dream, and it’s Big. And I will share it here with you soon. It’s not something I want to do, it’s something I’m called to do. But whether or not it will ever happen, depends on whether I stay true to my Path. I’m hoping that when the time is right, the right person will hear my call.

Meanwhile, here are some motivational quotes curated from Pinterest, to get Your New Year Resolutions up and running. Go get ’em, tiger! 👍

Everything in Black and White

Notice I didn’t say “Everything IS Black and White”, because nothing really is. There are always Shades of Grey, and I’m not talking just 50 either.

Anyhow, today I just want to share with you some inspirational quotes that ARE in Black and White. By this I mean they’ve been illustrated/painted/designed/typed/etc by the artist/photographer/designer/etc to be black on white, or white on black. There’s something simple, yet profound about keeping things minimal yet making a big statement.

The following images have been taken from Google. If you want to find out who the original creators are, you’ll need to do a reverse Google image search. All copyright remain with the original creators, of course.

This post is also an experiment. WordPress has this relatively new feature that makes uploading images from a mobile device much faster than previously possible. It’s called the “Multi Select with the New Picker”, and lets one select multiple images at the same time, rather than the painfully slow process one had to go through previously, of uploading images one at a time. The Multipicker, as I call it, certainly does what it says on the tin.

Quotes about Trying

Here are some image quotes I found on Google while researching the poem I wrote a few days ago, “Try”. The subject matter is about people trying. Not just trying to repair relationships, or improve the world, or succeed in life and business, but also about the very act of Trying.

Some people give up without even trying. Some are afraid to try because they’ve seen or heard about others failing. Some are too lazy to even contemplate trying. Some are too ignorant to realize where the problem is, or even the fact there’s a problem, that they should try fixing. Some don’t even realise there is even an option to try. Some don’t try because they think they’ll look stupid if it doesn’t work the first time.

My advice? NEVER GIVE UP TRYING. (Unless it’s the difference between giving up, letting go and knowing when you’ve had enough). Whatever you’re trying to accomplish or do or create, remember it only has to work once for you to realise that the impossible just got done.

Inspirational Quotes about Changing Your Thoughts

This is a spillover from my post yesterday, where I talked about some examples of people being brave enough to change their thoughts, and reaping the benefits.

I found these inspirational quotes on Google Images. I am sharing them here with you today, with the hope that they bring you a sense of validation in your own lives, or affirm your beliefs, or simply inspire you to accept that anything is possible if we allow ourselves to change.
